Excerpt from the interview:
TMC: Cheryl, have you always been interested in loss and grief work or did this journey begin with your husband’s experience?
The journey really began in 2006 when we learned that Stephen had metastatic colon cancer of the liver. We had thought that the cancer had been successfully treated in 2004-2005. Learning that he had only a couple of years to live was devastating news that initially sent us spiraling into that mind-numbing shock that so many people experience upon hearing bad news. After a few days of just trying to comprehend the meaning of what we were facing, we started what became an amazing journey of love and transformation that took us all the way to the very end of Stephen’s life. Since losing him, I have become very passionate about helping other people deal with the profound losses that are often so much a part of life.
